A Chicken
I was tasked with making a leaving card for a colleague, who keeps chickens. This was the result.

Not my most sophisticated creation, but I think he’s rather jolly.
A Dress
This is an idea I’d been meaning to try out for a while, so thought I’d give it a whirl for a mother’s day card. I just cut a rough square of red cotton and folded it in a similar way to the trusty origami dress pattern I always use, adding a few strategic stitches to hold it together. I added a strip of ribbon around the cinched waist and mounted it onto some gorgeous gift wrap I got today.

The dress was surprisingly quick and easy to make. I love it! What do you guys think?
Just a quick update of how my nyan cat cross stitch is getting on. As you can see, he’s very cute and very stitchy!

I could barely wait to start my new cross stitch project. The day the aida and threads arrived I designed my cross stitch pattern and got stitching! When it’s done I’ll post the pattern here.

It’s already so cute I can hardly believe it. Going to spend a few more hours this afternoon on it :)

I’ve been doing loads of projects over the past few months, but have been rather neglectful with updates. Sorry about that. I aim to be better this year!
June 2011
I designed and made this for a friend, featuring 80 individual origami pieces to make up 40 cute little origami cats on a patchwork paper background. She loved it, so I made another for my Etsy store.

July 2011
I was commissioned by a friend to make table decorations for her wedding - cornflower blue origami swans!

September 2011
As a birthday present, I designed this for a friend whose name starts with R. See if you can work ‘em all out!

November 2011
One of my boyfriend’s colleagues saw a picture of the ‘R is for’ artwork I’d posted on Facebook, and asked me to make something similar for his daughter’s first birthday. This is the finished product!

I loved making it, and think it looks great!
In November, I had a stall at my first ever craft fair at Barnsley Civic. I sold some of my stuff and got some good feedback. It was a tiring but brilliant day!

December 2011
For Christmas, I decided to make Pokémon cross stitches for my two brothers, using patterns from Littlemojo. One features a Mudkip, the other a Pikachu and Raichu. Very time-consuming (so many colours!) but so much fun to do. It has inspired me to do more cross stitching!

2012
Although the year has only just begun, I have been busy. I’m currently working on making hair accessories and brooches featuring an old favourite, the origami daisy! Check out my Etsy store and Folksy store for new items being constantly added. I have booked my second craft fair: One for Luck fair at the Workstation, Sheffield, on 19 May. Please pop down if you’re in the area and say hello to Terrible Lizard.
My Terrible Lizard Facebook and Twitter pages are now fully up and running too.
The most exciting project I will be starting shortly is (fanfare) Nyan Cat cross stitch! I only came across the YouTube phenomenon this month and completely fell in love. I am making this one purely for myself, and will be displaying it proudly in my house when finished. I can’t wait! I shall of course keep you posted of progress.
Wishing you all a lovely crafty 2012.

I love the band Weezer. Last night I was hanging around on Twitter and Rivers Cuomo replied to one of my tweets, asking if I can make Weezer origami. I thought “Probably not, but I’ll give it a bloody good go.”
So here are some tenuously Weezer-themed bits of origami.
“Island in the Sun”

“Crab”

“Pink Triangle”

“Butterfly”

“Undone - The Sweater Song”

Bit silly I know, but I had a lot of fun doing it. Whilst listening to Weezer of course.
Rivers, if you see this, please show your gratitude by playing in the UK soon ;)

Time for a long-overdue craft update!
A couple of colleagues decided to smarten up our staffroom a bit, and asked if I would like to do something pretty for the walls. I obviously obliged!
I created a ‘hexaptych’ using an image of Spike, our iconic woolly rhino. First I sketched him on an A4 piece of paper, then photocopied the image and coloured it in. I was pleased with the outcome.

I also wanted to do some origami, so came up with this:

I have been experimenting with using maps to make origami. Here is a little pig.

I bought some local street maps and Ordnance survey maps and will be trying out some designs with them, to hopefully sell in local shops or on Etsy or Folksy.
A friend celebrated his birthday last week, so I made him a quick card.

Two of my friends very recently moved house, so I made them this card. I tried to find the spot on the map where their new home is, but it was just off the edge :( The part I used is the closest I could get. I think they were happy with it, because it was the first post to arrive at their new house, and they posted a picture of it on Facebook for all to see :)

Finally, a colleague is moving on to bigger things, so I designed this for him. He is going to be working in a place called Heron, so I used this as my inspiration. Less leaving card, more sculpture really. I am quite worried about its structural integrity to be honest.

Yesterday I became a bit obsessed with making this lovely origami flower. Not a bad way to spend a day off…
Pattern from: http://www.origami-instructions.com/origami-daisy.html

I love them so much I going to have to try to make one into a brooch. Or maybe just stick all of them on me with double sided tape :D
